The damage caused by the US ATACMS long-range missiles in Kursk Region after their use by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) is minimal, but it is there. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at a press conference in Astana on November 28, answering Izvestiya's question.

"After that, ATACMS were used twice more in the Kursk region. The damage is minimal, but we cannot ignore the very fact of use. Especially since there is damage," the head of state noted.

The President added that Russia will respond to aggression to its address, with the choice of weapons will depend on the planned objects of defeat on the territory of Ukraine.

"Because this means the involvement of Western countries, direct involvement in an armed conflict. And what about it? If their specialists lay down flight assignments, and transmit themselves intelligence information, and themselves coordinate strikes on objects on the territory of the Russian Federation," Putin clarified.

Earlier, on November 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, responding to a question about the strikes with long-range US-made ATACMS missiles by the AFU against the Russian Federation, said that patience runs out if it is constantly tested. He also noted that another proverb that the West should be guided by is this one: "A Russian man takes a long time to harness."

On November 26, the Russian Defense Ministry promised to retaliate against the AFU attacks on Kursk region with American missiles.

Prior to that, on November 19, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the S-400 SAM and Pantsir SAM systems in the Bryansk region shot down five ATACMS missiles fired by the AFU and damaged another one. The wreckage of the latter fell on the territory of a military facility, without casualties or damage. In addition, the ministry said on November 21 that Russian air defense means (air defense) shot down two Storm Shadow missiles launched by the Ukrainian side.

On the same day, Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
