Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the creation of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan was discussed during the talks in Astana. The head of state said this on November 28 in the course of communication with the Russian press.

"Traditionally formed areas of our cooperation are space and energy, it is nowadays high technology," Putin noted.

The Russian leader pointed out that Rosatom is the largest company in the world in terms of the number of nuclear power plants under construction abroad and has a great experience of cooperation with foreign partners. According to him, Russia is not just building a power plant, but creating an industry. For this purpose, personnel are being trained and the necessary materials are being supplied.

Putin emphasized that cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in this direction is possible, noting that the final decision always rests with the customer.

Earlier, on October 7, Kazakhstan's CEC disclosed the preliminary results of the referendum on NPP construction. According to Natalia Budarina, a member of the mission of the CEC Secretary, the referendum was held in accordance with the laws of Kazakhstan.

Before that, on August 5, Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Zhandos Nurmaganbetov said that the country also thought about building a second nuclear power plant on the Irtysh River near the city of Kurchatov. He said that if Kazakhstan really takes the path of carbon neutrality, it simply has no other choice but to build several plants.
