Kirienko said it is important to transfer the sense of patriotism from adults to children

The sense of patriotism in a person is important to nurture, passing it from the older generation to the younger, from adults to children, thus setting them a personal example. This was stated on November 28 by First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko during the plenary session of the XXVI World Russian People's Council (WRPC) "The Russian World: External and Internal Challenges".

"A real patriot is one whose children are patriots. A true believer is one whose children share his faith. If we can't pass on our faith and our beliefs to the next generation, there must be something wrong in ourselves. Because that means that our beliefs will then be passed on to them by someone else. And here the most important thing is a personal example," Kiriyenko noted.

According to the representative of the administration of the head of state, knowledge can also be transmitted to a person by inanimate carriers - with the help of a book or other modern electronic gadgets. However, even in them the information is initially laid by a person.

"But beliefs are transmitted only from person to person, only by personal example. <...> Of particular importance is the active inclusion in the education of the younger generation - veterans, heroes of the special military operation (SMO). Because in the process of upbringing and personal example, not just knowledge but moral right is of special importance," he pointed out.

Kirienko added that he would especially like to express his gratitude to people who have consciously chosen to educate the younger generation as their vocation. This is especially true for teachers, mentors and clergymen.

Earlier, on November 20, the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, speaking about his understanding of patriotism, noted that this feeling consists of love for the Motherland, as well as for one's family, home, work, relatives, respect for elders.

In October, Putin called for patriotic education of schoolchildren to be conducted in a "lucid manner, but without overkill." He also emphasized that parents should explain and instill such basic things in their children at an early age.
