Expenditures on the development of Russian science at the end of 2024 will exceed Br1.6 trillion. This was announced on November 28 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the plenary session of the IV Congress of Young Scientists in the educational center "Sirius".

"A very important indicator that the president [Russian President Vladimir Putin] has set for us is to increase spending on science to 2% of GDP by 2030. This is a big figure. We must realize that in nominal terms it is 5.7 trillion rubles by 2030. This year this figure will amount to more than 1.6 trillion, so, agree, this is a very ambitious task," he said.

Chernyshenko noted that in addition to these funds, investments in projects worth about Br3 trillion are envisaged. Nine national projects will be aimed at creating technologies within the framework of these projects, concluded the deputy chairman of the Russian government.

More than 7 thousand participants arrived at the IV Congress of Young Scientists, which is held at the federal territory "Sirius" near Sochi, and presented their scientific projects. On November 27, participants of the event spoke about their ideas and research.

Also on November 28, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) , announced the creation of a joint venture fund with Sirius, with a capital of 1 billion rubles. Dmitriev noted the importance of attracting talented young people in Russia to projects, adding that Sirius has already been successful in attracting leading scientists.

Earlier, in February this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to work out the possibility of expanding funding for Russian science. For the next three years, 1.5 trillion rubles is envisaged, the head of Russia said.
