Clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) appealed to the governor of the Samara region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev with a request to provide information about corruption schemes in professional soccer. This was reported on November 28 in the official Telegram-channel of the RPL.

"The clubs of the Russian Premier League have consistently advocated and continue to advocate for fair soccer and condemn any manifestation of corruption," the organization said.

RPL clubs added that they value business reputation, trust of fans and relationships with business partners.

The league is interested in obtaining reliable information and is ready to support those who have information that can affect the reputation of clubs, the organization said in a statement.

"We have sent a letter to the Governor of the Samara region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev with a request to provide available information about alleged corruption schemes in professional soccer. We declare the need for an investigation into the facts presented, we express our full readiness to participate in this process", - said in the RPL.

The organization added that they are ready to initiate an appeal to law enforcement agencies and the jurisdictional bodies of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to punish those responsible.

Earlier, on November 26, Fedorishchev said at the Russian State Council commission on sports development that he had learned about the debt of the Krylya Sovetov soccer club worth 36 million rubles to "criminals who are engaged in corruption in the referee corps of Russian soccer." According to him, such a system has been in place for several years. The governor proposed to refuse to finance the said scheme at the expense of taxpayers' money.

The Russian Football Union considered the facts of corruption in the referee corps, as stated by the governor, as a reason to turn to law enforcement authorities.
