People's Artist of Russia Vera Karpova died at the age of 92 in St. Petersburg. About it on Thursday, November 28, reported the press service of the Akimov Comedy Theater. N.P. Akimov.

"We regret to inform you that on November 27 died dear and warmly loved by all Vera Karpova, a legend of the Comedy Theater, People's Artist of Russia, an outstanding figure of national culture", - stated in the message of the theater in "VKontakte".

The causes and circumstances of the death of the artist are not specified. Information about the date, place and time of the farewell is also not yet available.

The Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov expressed condolences in connection with the incident and said that "St. Petersburg and Russian culture suffered a heavy loss".

Nina Karpova was born in Leningrad in 1933. After graduating from Shchukinsky College, she was invited to his theater director Nikolai Akimov. During her long career at the Comedy Theater, she played more than 80 roles. Karpova also starred in more than 75 motion pictures, including the TV series "Sea Devils" and "Streets of Broken Lanterns". She worked at Leningrad Radio, hosting the program "Bibishka - a glorious friend" in the 1990s. In 2018 and 2019, she was awarded the Figaro and Golden Mask awards for her contribution to the theatrical art.
