A session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held in Astana on Thursday, November 28. During the event, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the progress of the special operation in Ukraine, the advantages of modern Russian weapons and other issues with his colleagues in the bloc. "Izvestia" tells what the head of state talked about.
Putin - about the Kiev regime
During his speech at the CSTO summit, Vladimir Putin pointed out the illegitimacy of the current government in Ukraine. The president noted that from the legal point of view, the leaders of the Kiev regime have no right to give orders to the country's Armed Forces, as they are usurpers.
"For what, for example, today's forcibly mobilized Ukrainian servicemen and officers should give their lives for? For the Bandera neo-Nazi regime that has taken up residence in Kiev? For its leaders, who have already lost their legitimacy? After all, they did not go to the elections," the head of state said.
The Russian leader added that all those who follow the orders of the Kiev regime become accomplices to its crimes.
Putin - about "hazel"
During the CSTO summit, Putin also spoke about the characteristics of the newest hypersonic missile system "Oreshnik". The President recalled that the Russian side was forced to test it in combat conditions in response to the strikes by Western weapons on the Kursk and Bryansk regions.
The head of state specified that when using the "Oreshnik" dozens of homing warheads attack the target at a speed of about 3 kilometers per second, and the temperature of the striking elements reaches 4 thousand degrees.
"Therefore, everything in the epicenter of the explosion is separated into fractions, elementary particles, turned, in fact, into dust," the Russian leader pointed out.
The president added that Oreshnik easily strikes highly protected and objects located at great depths. He also emphasized that in case of massive use of such missiles, the power of the strike would be comparable to the use of nuclear weapons.
Putin emphasized that there are no analogs of the "Oreshnik" in the world and they are unlikely to appear in the near future. According to the president, serial production of these missile systems has already begun, but ultimately the means of defeat will be chosen depending on the nature of the selected targets and the threats posed to Russia.
The head of state added that at the moment Russia has several ready-made missiles and in case of continued strikes with long-range Western weapons by the AFU, Moscow will respond with new tests of "Oreshnik" in combat conditions.
Putin on NATO's intervention in the conflict in Ukraine
During his speech at the CSTO summit, Putin said that the Russian Federation sees how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose powers expired in May this year, continues to "beg his masters" for missiles and military equipment. The head of state urged not to forget that Russia has Kalibr systems, hypersonic missile systems Kinzhal and Zirkon, which have no analogues in the world.
The president also recalled that Western countries allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to use long-range precision weapons manufactured abroad to strike Russian territory. He noted that Moscow had repeatedly warned that such actions would be perceived as NATO's direct intervention in the conflict.
"Nevertheless, despite our warnings about the danger of escalation of the conflict, strikes on our territory were carried out in the Bryansk and Kursk regions by US ATACMS missiles and British Storm Shadow missiles," the Russian leader said.
He added that over the past two days Russia had launched 100 missiles and 466 drones at facilities in Ukraine. The president emphasized that these strikes were a response to the ongoing US missile attacks on Russian territory.
Putin on the advantages of Russian missile systems
During his speech at the CSTO summit, Putin also noted that Western missile systems ATACMS and Storm Shadow are in no way superior to Russian ones.
"The Russian analog of all three ATACMS modifications is the Iskander missile system and its various modifications. The mass of the warhead in TNT equivalent is about the same, the Iskander has a longer range. The new U.S. missile PrSM does not surpass Russian analogs in terms of parameters," the President said.
The head of state added that Russia also has in service the Kh-101 air-launched missile, which is an analog of the British Storm Shadow, French SCALP and German Taurus, but also exceeds them in range.
The Russian leader also pointed out that Moscow knows how many weapons systems the enemy has, how many of them are in warehouses, where they are located and how many more weapons are planned to be delivered to Ukraine.
"As for the production of relevant missile systems, relevant equipment, in Russia it is 10 times more than the total production of all NATO countries combined. And next year this production will be increased by another 25-30%," the president emphasized.
