Amendments providing for an increase in fines for traffic violations have been submitted to the State Duma. Pavel Krasheninnikov, the head of the Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, said this, TASS reported on November 28.

"As far as I know, the government has already introduced it," he said, adding that the amendments could be adopted by the end of the year.

Earlier, Vedomosti reported that fines for violating a number of traffic rules may increase in Russia from January 1, 2025. Thus, for violation of the rules of seat belt use the fine is proposed to increase from 1 thousand to 1.5 thousand rubles (Art. 12.6 of the CAO), for driving under the influence of alcohol or transfer of the right to drive a vehicle - from 30 thousand to 45 thousand rubles (symmetrically to the fine for refusal of medical examination under Art. 12.26 of the CAO).

It is planned to change the range of fines for speeding: instead of the current Br500-5000 to Br750-7500 (Art. 12.9 of the CAO), for failure to comply with road signs or markings - from Br500-5000 to Br750-7500 (Art. 12.16 of the CAO). It is also proposed to raise fines under Art. 12.21.1 ("Violation of the rules of towing or transportation of goods") and Art. 12.21.5 ("Violation of the rules of large-size vehicle movement"). In addition, it is proposed to reduce the discount on payment of fines from 50 to 25%, but the period of preferential payment will increase from 20 to 30 days.

Earlier in the day it became known that the Government called for the reworking of the bill, which proposes to introduce a discount of 50% when paying for the evacuation of a detained vehicle.

November 13, it became known that in the State Duma proposed to give the right to the owners of highways marked with the sign "Motorway", to set the allowed speed up to 150 km / h. With such an initiative the deputy speaker of the Duma Vladislav Davankov and MP Anton Tkachev appealed to the head of the main department for road safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Mikhail Chernikov.
