Ex-head of Liberal Russia convicted in absentia for justifying terrorism

Ex-head of the Liberal Russia Andrei Sidelnikov (recognized as a foreign agent, included in the register of extremists and terrorists) was convicted in absentia for justifying terrorism, he was sentenced to six years in prison. This was reported by the Moscow prosecutor's office on November 28.

"The 2nd Western District Military Court passed a sentence against 49-year-old Andrei Sidelnikov. He was found guilty under part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public justification of terrorism, committed with the use of information and telecommunication network "Internet")", - specified in the message.

According to the prosecutor's office, last year Sidelnikov, being abroad, on one of the video-hosting sites spoke out about "the need for drone attacks on polling stations, which were located on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye regions."

The court also deprived Sidelnikov of the right to administer websites for four years.

On the same day, November 28, the great-granddaughter of Soviet pilot Darya Bogdanova (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists) was sentenced after her calls for terrorism on the Internet. A criminal case was opened for justification of terrorism.
