The newest strike hypersonic missile system "Oreshnik" has 10 separating blocks that attack the target and everything in the epicenter of the explosion turns to dust. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 28.

"Everything that is in the epicenter of the explosion is separated into fractions, elementary particles, turns, in fact, into dust," the Russian leader said at a CSTO meeting.

Putin said that there are no analogs of the Oreshnik in the world and, in his opinion, they will not appear soon. He noted that the missile strikes highly defensible and objects located at great depth. Putin also pointed out that in case of massive group application of these missiles in a single strike, the power will be comparable to the use of nuclear weapons.

"Serial production of the Oreshnik has begun, but ultimately the means of defeat will be chosen by us depending on the nature of the targets selected for defeat and the threats posed to the Russian Federation," the Russian president pointed out.

The Russian leader added that at the moment there are several ready-made missiles for use. He specified that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue strikes on the territory of Russia with long-range missiles of Western manufacture, the Russian Federation will respond by continuing to test the "Oreshnik" in combat conditions. According to him, at the moment the Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Russian Army are selecting targets to hit on the territory of Ukraine.

"We will respond including the possible continuation of the Oreshnik test in combat conditions, as it was done on November 21," the president said.

On November 21, the Russian president said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.

Before that, on November 19, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the S-400 SAM and Pantsir SAM systems in the Bryansk region shot down five ATACMS missiles fired by the AFU and damaged another one. The wreckage of the latter fell on the territory of a military facility, without casualties or damage.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
