Paris is concerned that Europe and Kiev might be excluded from the negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, which would leave only Russia and the USA to deal with them. The Economist wrote about this on November 27.

"The question is what role Europe will play. Advisers to French President Emmanuel Macron fear that diplomacy will become an American-Russian affair in which neither Ukraine nor Europe will be involved," the article says.

The authors also quote an Eastern European diplomat as saying that US President-elect Donald Trump wants European representatives to share ideas with him on conflict resolution. According to Trump, Europe does not need to give the impression that it does not seek a settlement, added "Gazeta.Ru".

Earlier in the day it was reported that Trump's future national security adviser Mike Waltz is in search of an optimal solution to the Ukrainian crisis. It was noted that the details of the strategy are still being worked out, but the Trump administration is likely to seek a ceasefire to freeze the conflict for the duration of the negotiations.

Earlier, on November 15, Trump promised to "work very hard" to end the Ukrainian conflict. The President-elect of the United States spoke publicly for the first time since winning the election in the White House.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
