Operatives have detained a former vice-rector of one of the leading universities in Moscow on suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds on a large scale. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk on November 28.
According to Izvestia's source, the detainee is ex-prorector of PFUR Angela Dolzhikova.
"My colleagues from the department of economic security and anti-corruption of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Moscow revealed embezzlement of budget funds on a particularly large scale. The 55-year-old suspect, who at the time of the crime held the position of vice-rector of one of the leading universities of the capital, has been detained," Volk reports.
The police conducted searches at the detainee, as well as those involved in the embezzlement, the message said. Investigators opened a criminal case under the article "Fraud". Now continues to check all the circumstances of what happened.
Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that in July this year was detained the Director General of LLC "Simatex United "Center for Russian Education" Emma Britvina. She was detained in the framework of a criminal case under the article on fraud - law enforcement agencies initiated it on the fact of illegal payments in favor of Simatex. In 2020, a contract was signed between PFUR and Simatex. Under its terms, for each attracted foreign student Simatex receives from the university 5-15% of the amount paid for the first two semesters of education.
In 2022 alone, the university transferred more than 17 million rubles to the center for the recruitment of 325 foreigners. However, according to the investigation, some of these people entered the university on their own, without using the services of intermediaries. Accordingly, no payments for them were due to the agency that helps foreign students enroll in Russian universities.
