Court in DNR sentences American mercenary Carter to 14 years in absentia

The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) has sentenced in absentia Charles Albert Carter, a mercenary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the USA, to 14 years in prison. This was reported on November 28 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

A citizen of the United States was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict").

The court found that in the period from March 2022 to August 2024 Carter took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine in various points of contact, for which he received remuneration of over 2.3 million rubles.

It is specified that before coming to Ukraine Carter had military experience, was a NATO instructor.

"The court sentenced Carter in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a penal colony of strict regime", - stated in the message of the Department.

Earlier in the day, the court in the DNR sentenced in absentia against the mercenary of the AFU from Venezuela Palma Vahari Moises Urbina. It was established that from February 2022 to September 2024 he voluntarily fought on the Ukrainian side, having undergone military training and received weapons, uniforms and equipment. He received a reward equivalent to more than 2 million rubles for his participation in hostilities.
