TheUSA does not plan to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine. The White House said this on 28 November in response to a question from the Newsweek magazine.

"We do not plan to supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons," Washington said.

This is how the White House responded to the reasoning of Western officials to supply nuclear weapons to Ukraine, as reported by foreign media.

Earlier, on November 26, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Western officials' proposals to return nuclear weapons to Ukraine were irresponsible reasoning.

Russian President Vladimir Putin approved an updated nuclear doctrine on November 19. It includes the amendments announced in September. In particular, for the first time a definition of a potential adversary against whom Russia is conducting nuclear deterrence is introduced.

Peskov later clarified that the measure brings the norms in this area in line with the current situation. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also noted that Russia is strictly committed to the position of preventing nuclear war and defends a world in which nuclear weapons should never be used.
