Passenger car production in Russia increased 1.5 times

In October 2024, 91.2 thousand passenger cars were produced in Russia, which is 54.1% more than a year ago. According to the results of the first ten months of 2024, 599 thousand cars rolled off the assembly lines, which is 41.4% higher than the figure for the same period last year, according to Rosstat data. At the same time, relative to September of this year, production increased by 38.6%.

Production of trucks in January-October amounted to 161 thousand units, which is 11.4% more than in the first ten months of last year. In the second fall month, 19.4 thousand trucks rolled off the Russian assembly lines (+9.3% versus October 2023).

The output of internal combustion engines amounted to 116 thousand units over ten months (+12.9%). In October, the production of internal combustion engines increased by 16% to 22.1 thousand units.

In addition, the production of buses weighing more than 5 tons in January-October increased to 12.4 thousand units (+14.5%), but the output of buses weighing less than 5 tons decreased to 17.4 thousand units (-3.9%).

The day before it was reported that St. Petersburg "Automobile Plant AGR" plans to launch a new line of cars together with an eastern partner. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg Alexei Yakovlev at the international forum "Russian Industrialist".

Also on Wednesday, it became known that the restart of the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg will not take place in 2024, as previously announced. An agreement on plans to launch production of premium cars at the site of the former Toyota plant in 2024 was signed by St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov and Aurus CEO Andrei Pankov at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
