Poland urges NATO not to send military to Ukraine

Sending NATO troops to Ukraine at this stage of the conflict would be a wrong decision. The head of Poland's National Security Bureau, Jacek Severa, said this on Thursday, November 28, on the air of Radio Zet.
"NATO soldiers on the territory of Ukraine - at this point would be a wrong decision," he said.
According to Severa, providing Ukraine with offensive weapons is inappropriate now because "NATO is a defensive alliance and its task is to protect peace." He suggested pursuing peace by supporting Kiev and putting pressure on Moscow.
Earlier in the day, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Mark Rutte said that he did not consider it a wise decision to involve NATO military forces in the conflict in Ukraine.
Before that, on November 26, it was reported that NATO would continue to support Ukraine even after Russia used its newest medium-range missile system, the Oreshnik ballistic missile.
British Defense Minister John Healey said on 25 November that the Ukrainian conflict had entered a critical phase, which requires NATO members to strengthen their own defenses. Also, the British official emphasized that it is necessary to double the support for Kiev.
Before that, on November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against Russia , which made the regional conflict acquire elements of a global one. He also said that the test of the ballistic missile "Oreshnik" took place in combat conditions.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
