Court in DNR convicts Venezuelan mercenary in absentia for 14 years


The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) has sentenced in absentia a mercenary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from Venezuela, Palma Vahari Moises Urbina. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office on Thursday, November 28.
The man was found guilty under part 3 of article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict").
It is established that from February 2022 to September 2024 he voluntarily fought on the Ukrainian side, having undergone military training and received weapons, uniforms and equipment. For his participation in combat operations, he received a reward equivalent to more than 2 million rubles.
"Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced Urbina in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a penal colony of strict regime", - stated in the message of the agency.
Earlier, on November 26, it was reported that the court in the DNR sentenced in absentia Ushangi Mamulashvili, who recruited mercenaries for the AFU. The man was sentenced to 23 years in prison. The verdict was also passed against three Georgian citizens - Giorgi Rusitashvili, Nodaru Petriashvili and Vano Nadiradze, who took part in the conflict on the side of Kiev. All three men were found guilty under part 3 of article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
