Lavrov calls NATO statements on preventive strikes against Russia irresponsible

NATO's statements about possible preemptive strikes against Russia are absolutely irresponsible. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said this on Thursday, November 28, in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, an excerpt of which was published on his Telegram channel.
"The admiral [NATO Military Committee head Rob Bauer ] who made these statements is absolutely irresponsible. There are many such people who have not smelled gunpowder, but have put on epaulets and also want to serve, probably," the minister reacted to the relevant statements.
Commenting on the discussions in Washington about the potential transfer of nuclear weapons to Ukraine, Lavrov said that the supreme commander-in-chief makes the final decision in this matter, while the statements of politicians are aimed at attracting public attention.
Earlier, on November 25, Rob Bauer said that NATO was discussing the possibility of launching preventive strikes against Russia in the event of a conflict with it by the alliance countries. It was specified that in case of a hypothetical attack the alliance should try to strike with high-precision means to hit launchers in the Russian Federation.
Before that, on November 12, Bauer expressed the opinion that if Russia did not have nuclear weapons, NATO would have sent its troops to Ukraine long ago.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a plenary session of the Valdai Club on November 7, called NATO the only remaining bloc in the world and "an outright anachronism." He noted that the alliance, which has lost its relevance, violates international norms and its own principles.
The West regularly stirs up hysteria among the citizens of its countries, warning of an allegedly imminent war with Russia. The Russian leader has repeatedly stated that nothing of the sort is in the country's plans.
