More than 4.5 thousand light decorative constructions will decorate Moscow for the New Year and Christmas holidays. This was reported on Wednesday, November 27, by Deputy Mayor of the capital on housing and public utilities and landscaping Petr Biryukov.
According to him, the special atmosphere will create the main symbols of the holiday - about a thousand Christmas trees with colorful balls and garlands, notes the agency of city news "Moscow".
Specialists have already begun installation work in all districts of the city, they will be completed by December 1.
Biryukov noted that two arches, traditionally decorating Manezh Square and Kuznetsky Most Street, received technical re-equipment. Light tunnels and numbers 2025 will decorate pedestrian zones of the Boulevard Ring, RT writes. A giant Christmas tree ball was installed in Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill, openwork arches and constructions in the form of Christmas stars will decorate Teatralnaya Square and Patriarchal Bridge, kp.ru website notes.
The official emphasized that modern energy-saving equipment based on LEDs is used to decorate the city. They are designed to work in any weather conditions and consume dozens of times less electricity, notes "Moscow 24".
In recent years, Moscow has formed a sufficient stock of festive elements, which allows to fully decorate the city. All light and decorative constructions have become multifunctional, they can be used repeatedly, reports IA Regnum.
On November 27, the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin said that from December 1 to February 28 in Moscow will work about 80 branches of the "Winter Post", in which citizens and tourists will be able to send a free postcard to friends and relatives or a letter to Santa Claus. The action will be part of the "Winter in Moscow" project.
