Russians named the most desirable gifts for the New Year

For the New Year, every fifth Russian most of all wants to receive a holiday trip as a gift, "Gazeta.Ru" reported on November 28 according to the results of a survey.

"Every fifth Russian dreams of receiving a tourist trip as a gift for the New Year. Another 18% would like to receive money. It is interesting that last year money was dreamed of more often than travel, but now the priorities of Russians have changed," the publication reads.

Every tenth respondent said that the most desirable gift for him would be a smartphone, tablet or laptop. 8% of respondents would like to receive a certificate for educational courses. 4% would be happy with a new household appliance, and 3% of Russians would like a set of cosmetics, sports equipment or a gift certificate.

2% of survey participants said they would like to receive jewelry, theater tickets, repair tools, health products or interior items as a gift. Clothes and shoes, alcohol and computer games would like to receive as a gift only 1% of Russians.

As the experts found out, women more often than men would like to receive travel as a gift (24% vs. 15% respectively), cosmetics (6% vs. 0%), gift certificates (5% vs. 0%) and books (4% vs. 1%). Male respondents are more likely to want to receive gifts of money (26% vs. 11% among women), smartphones (11% vs. 9%), sports goods (4% vs. 1%) and tools for repair and construction (4% vs. 0%).

Respondents under 35 put money first (19%). Gadgets, certificates for courses (11%) and cosmetics (6%) were named more often by those who are older, while Russians from 45 years old more often want to receive travel as a gift (28%).

Most of all dreaming to receive a gift for the New Year travel trip among respondents with a salary of Br100 thousand per month (34%).

Earlier, on November 26, the survey showed that Russians on New Year's Eve prefer surprises to ordered gifts. More than a third of Russians (38%) want to receive a gift for the New Year from their partner as a surprise, 25% would prefer a hint.

At the same time it became known that New Year's tours have become almost a third more expensive for Russians. Thus, according to the service, to travel to Egypt for the New Year holidays in 2024 spend 31.4% more (an average of 275.1 thousand rubles), to Abkhazia - by 31% (71.2 thousand rubles), to Sri Lanka - by 21.8% (474.5 thousand rubles).
