American entrepreneur Ilon Musk said that retired Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Windman committed treason after a former witness in Trump's impeachment trial accused Musk of being unwittingly used by Russia. The billionaire wrote on his social media page X (formerly Twitter) on Nov. 27.

"Windman is on the payroll of Ukrainian oligarchs and has committed treason against the United States, for which he will be punished accordingly," Musk said, responding to Windman's comments made in an interview about the entrepreneur's alleged conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier in the day, Ilon Musk called US President Joe Biden 's request of $24 billion from Congress for military aid to Ukraine abnormal.

On February 8, 2020, Donald Trump published a response to the public reaction after the firing of Alexander Windman, an expert on Ukraine and National Security Council staffer, accusing him of indiscipline and leaking information.

Earlier, on February 7, Reuters, citing the lawyer of the fired Ukraine expert, who testified against Trump at the impeachment hearings, reported that the US president dismissed Alexander Windman and his twin brother Eugene. Colleagues of the NSC official noted that he had threatened to resign of his own accord in recent weeks.
