The State Duma will be proposed to increase insurance compensation for deposits

A bill proposing to increase the maximum amount of insurance compensation from Br1.4 to Br3 million will be submitted to the State Duma for consideration. This was reported on November 28 by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov.
"Insurance compensation for bank deposit today does not exceed 1.4 million rubles. But this amount has not changed for more than 10 years, for which inflation alone has wiped out at least a third of the deposit amount guaranteed to be returned," the deputy wrote in his Telegram channel.
Nilov also said that the initiative to increase insurance compensation for long-term deposits was proposed by the Bank of Russia. According to the regulator, this will help curb inflation.
Earlier, on October 31, Valery Piven, managing director, head of the group of ratings of financial institutions ACRA Valery Piven told "Izvestia" that the increase in the level of insurance indemnity on deposits will not have a great impact on the inflow of money into banks. According to him, in 2024, the funds of retail customers placed in banks increased by more than Br7 trillion, up to Br52 trillion. At the same time, the key factor in the inflow is the rate.
Earlier, on October 21, it was reported that more than half of the surveyed Russians (56%) in 2024 opened deposits in banks where they had not previously kept savings. This is stated in the results of the VTB survey. One third of respondents entrust their savings to one bank, 43% keep their savings in two or three banks, 5% have funds distributed across four or more organizations. At the same time, every fifth respondent has no savings in banks at all.
