State Duma deputy speaks of personnel shortage in the military-industrial complex

State Duma deputy Oleg Morozov said about the staff shortage in the military-industrial complex, which has reached 400 thousand specialists. This was reported by the Duma TV channel on November 27.
"According to some estimates, the deficit of specialists here in the near future will already amount to about 400 thousand people. I think there is no need to talk about how important this sphere is for our country today," he informed.
According to Morozov, one of the reasons for such a shortage is the excess of humanities specialists that has arisen in recent decades. He is convinced that schoolchildren go where it is easier to enter and where deep knowledge of exact sciences is not required, and the educational system is too slow to change this bias.
At the same time, the deputy emphasized that the educational system does not have time to transform itself for new professions.
"Therefore, preparing for specialists, we must be sure that in their basic skills they will be in demand not only in 3-5, but also in 10-15 years. The main condition for success here is the readiness to constantly update educational standards, the ability to follow the technological agenda," he concluded.
Earlier, on November 26, personnel search services reported to Izvestia that production managers, heads of company branches, commercial directors and other representatives of management are in acute shortage in Russia. It was noted that the demand for managers has almost doubled in three years. The greatest number of such vacancies are now in the fields of industry, retail, construction, tourism, catering and service.
