- Novak announced Kazakhstan's interest in a new gas pipeline to China through the republic

The project of a new gas route to China via Kazakhstan was discussed at the talks in Astana during Russian President Vladimir Putin 's state visit to the republic. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to Izvestia.
"It was discussed now as a project, as it concerns solutions to several issues at once. The gas pipeline with a capacity of 45 billion cubic meters of gas, which goes through Kazakhstan - 10 billion in order to provide gasification of the northeastern regions of Kazakhstan, and 35 billion cubic meters of gas to Chinese consumers. Since this is a trilateral document, it should be discussed with Chinese partners as well. They should present their decisions on the implementation of this project," Novak told Izvestia.
At the same time, the Kazakh side said they are interested in it, both to ensure transit and to provide part of the northeast, he specified. The project is still under discussion with Chinese partners, the deputy prime minister added.
Earlier, Novak said that the Russian side is considering a new potential route for gas exports to China - up to 35 billion cubic meters per year through Kazakhstan.
