The State Duma wants to classify radiation poisoning as a military trauma

The State Duma wants to classify radiation contamination of servicemen as a military trauma in order to enable their relatives to receive an additional monthly pension. As "Izvestia" found out, such a bill has been prepared for submission to the State Duma by the LDPR faction headed by Leonid Slutsky.
"Analysis of the norms of Article 21 of the RF law in comparison with the provisions of other federal laws has revealed the following legal conflict: servicemen from special risk units, recognized as disabled as a result of radiation-related disease, received in the performance of military service (official duties), do not belong to the category of disabled as a result of military trauma (paragraph "a" of Article 21 of the RF law)", - says the explanatory note, which is available at "Izvestia".
As the authors of the initiative note, accordingly, such citizens, as well as their relatives, are deprived of additional payments from the state.
"Under current legislation, the wives of servicemen who died as a result of military trauma, can receive two pensions at once - their own and the second, established for the deceased spouse. But a widow who recently came to see me in St. Petersburg was forced to choose either one or the other, as her husband does not fall under the above category. And this is not the only such case. People risk their lives, consciously choose such a dangerous profession for the good of the country, are not afraid of anything, but then they get seriously ill and often die," Stanislav Naumov, deputy head of the LDPR faction, explained to Izvestia the need to adopt the initiative.
Earlier, on November 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that allows some members of the SWO and their spouses to write off overdue loans up to 10 million rubles. It is specified that the loans can be written off, for which before December 1, 2024, the court act on debt collection came into force and enforcement proceedings were initiated.
