Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov pointed to the readiness of Moscow and Astana to strengthen cooperative relations. He told reporters on November 27, commenting on the results of the Russian-Kazakhstani negotiations held within the framework of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan.

"Russia is one of the key trade partners, in the top five investors of Kazakhstan, and the main importer of goods with a share of 29.4%. Last year, Russia's accumulated direct investments rose to 1.1 trillion rubles. Our countries are ready to increase and deepen cooperation. The necessary base has been created for this purpose, and good dynamics is visible," Reshetnikov said.

The leaders also signed a package of 20 intergovernmental, interdepartmental and commercial documents related to mutual cooperation - from energy and transportation to health care, education and epidemiological control, said the Minister.

In addition, the countries signed a program of interregional and cross-border cooperation from 2024 to 2028.

According to Reshetnikov, Kazakhstan is among the top-3 most popular vacation destinations for Russians. Last year the number of tourists from the Russian Federation to the republic increased by 13%, from Kazakhstan to Russia - increased by almost a third.

"We handed over to the Kazakh side a catalog with 30 tourism investment projects for further cooperation, signed an intergovernmental agreement on tourism and agreed to develop joint tour programs, popularize recreation in our countries and attract investment," the minister concluded.

Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a two-day visit earlier in the day. The head of state discussed further development of Russian-Kazakh relations with his Kazakh counterpart Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.

The joint statement of Putin and Tokayev on deepening strategic partnership in the new global order, which the two heads of state signed during today's meeting, says that Russia and Kazakhstan will support each other, oppose undermining stability and violating territorial integrity.

The presidents at the meeting discussed the development of bilateral relations, and the Kazakh leader noted that Astana has been and remains a reliable strategic partner and ally of Moscow.

During the talks, the Russian president noted the dynamic development of relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, which have both friendly and business character. The head of state added that Russia has invested $13 billion in Kazakhstan's economy. At a joint press conference with his Kazakh counterpart, Putin said that on the agenda of Russian-Kazakh relations is the creation of three new thermal power plants.
