France said it plans to build a missile in the image of the "Nuttall"

France plans to build its own ballistic missile with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers after Russia successfully tested its ballistic system "Oreshnik". This was reported by the French magazine Challenges on November 27, citing its sources.
The media outlet notes that the superfast ballistic missiles used in recent months by Russia, Iran and Israel have demonstrated tremendous effectiveness.
"According to our sources, France is studying the French project of a conventional ballistic missile, the range of which could exceed 1,000 kilometers," the article said.
The new French missile is expected to be launched from mobile ground installations. Its key characteristic should be the ability to actively maneuver on the terminal section before hitting the target. The sources indicated that the missile will be able to change its flight trajectory until the last moment, which should exclude the possibility of its interception.
Earlier on November 27, the president of the National Research Center (NRC) "Kurchatov Institute" Mikhail Kovalchuk said in a conversation with Izvestia that the successful creation of the Russian ballistic missile "Oreshnik" paved the way for developments that in the future could be operated at even higher temperatures.
At the same time, retired U.S. Army Col. Lawrence Wilkerson told Izvestia that U.S. ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles are like "children's toys" compared to the capabilities of Russia's Oreshnik missile systems.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 21 that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions in Ukraine in response to the escalation by Western countries. The next day, the head of state specified that Russia would continue testing the Oreshnik, and that the decision on the serial production of these missiles had already been made. In addition, several other weapons of this kind are currently under development.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later explained that the creation of Oreshnik missiles was conducted without publicity. It is known that the developers will be presented to state awards.
