- France criticized Macron's government for escalating the conflict with Russian Federation

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who said that the country had no "red lines" and could send its troops to Ukraine, as well as French leader Emmanuel Macron are taking dangerous actions to escalate the conflict with Russia, in the vain belief that Russia is allegedly led by a leadership that does not realize its own actions. This was stated by the head of the party "Unconquered France" Jean-Luc Mélenchon on November 27.
He noted that Barrot, who does not have the responsibility and power that Macron has as president, allows frivolous statements that France, following the United States, may authorize Kiev to strike deep into Russian Federation with its long-range weapons.
"In other words, this man (Barrot. - Ed.) has decided instead of the president of the republic, instead of the National Assembly, to challenge Russia, while claiming, as can be read in the press, that Mr. [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has gone mad," Melanchon said in a video message on his YouTube channel.
The politician believes that Paris does not necessarily need to follow Washington's path and, following US President Joe Biden, give Kiev permission to strike Russia. Russia, for its part, has already demonstrated that it has something to respond to this move by using its Oreshnik ballistic missile.
"Russia will of course retaliate, which it did when it launched its missile. <...> Fortunately, that missile carried a conventional warhead. But you can see that this is an escalation," Melanchon noted.
The leader of "Unconquered France" noted that the country's population does not want a nuclear war in Europe, so words about the absence of "red lines" cannot be uttered in such a casual manner.
"Do you realize that we may soon face a nuclear war in Europe? Of course, you are the kind of people who think it will never happen. It is the most foolish position to believe that everything will work itself out, and that as long as we treat people like crazy, they will behave like reasonable people. No, we are in the process of escalation," the politician summarized.
Earlier, on November 26, the head of the French party "People's Republican Union" Francois Asselino demanded a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier for its bellicose stance against Russia. He emphasized that this topic is very important, because there is a danger of the third world war.
At the same time, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, said that French President Macron would be a traitor to his country if he sent troops to Ukraine. At the same time, Macron has repeatedly said that he does not rule out the possible dispatch of the military. Back in May, he said that the conditions for this would be a request from Kiev or a breakthrough of Russian troops on the front.
Barro said in an interview with the BBC on Nov. 25 that Ukraine could launch French SCALP long-range missiles at Russia. Asked whether this could mean the participation of French troops in hostilities, he said that no option could be ruled out. Dmitry Belik, a State Duma deputy from Sevastopol and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said Barro's statement was "an act of aggression."
Before that, on November 19, the French newspaper Le Monde reported that France had a limited number of long-range SCALP surface-to-air missiles for delivery to Ukraine. According to the newspaper, France provided only 10 missiles out of 40 announced. At the same time, French President Macron praised the decision of the US authorities to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike Russia.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was taken by Russia because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
