Russia is one of the largest investors in the economy of Kazakhstan. This statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev on November 27.

"Russia is one of the key foreign economic partners of Kazakhstan. The volumes of mutual trade now, in general, remain at the level of 2023. And more than 80% of settlements take place in national currencies. In addition, Russia is among the largest investors in the Kazakh economy," he said at the plenary session of the XX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.

According to him, in 2023, the accumulated direct investment in Kazakhstan exceeded Br1 trillion. He also noted that at the moment more than 60 projects in various directions are being implemented jointly with Russia in the country. At the same time, the volume of their support in the field of electricity, mining and metallurgy exceeds Br850 billion.

According to Patrushev, much attention is paid to the development of the international transportation corridor "North-South", which will allow Russia and Kazakhstan to open promising markets.

Participation of Russian companies in modernization of fuel and energy complex enterprises in Kazakhstan is also an important direction.

In addition, cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is actively developing. This concerns not only cultural exchange, but also the organization of educational programs, initiatives in the field of tourism, youth and sports. At the moment, the process of working out the issue of establishing three Russian-language schools in Kazakhstan, which will combine the educational standards of both countries, is also underway.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a two-day visit and was met at the airport by Kazakh leader Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. At the meeting, they discussed the development of bilateral relations, and the Kazakh leader noted that Astana has been and remains a reliable strategic partner and ally of Moscow.

During the talks between the delegations, the Russian president noted that Moscow and Astana are both friends and maintain business relations, and the interaction between the two states is developing in the most dynamic way.

Following the talks, the leaders of the countries signed a joint statement in Astana on deepening strategic partnership in the new global order.
