Putin says plan to increase gas supplies from Russia to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan


Russia will increase gas supplies to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a joint press conference with Kazakh leader Kasym-Jomart Tokayev during his state visit to Astana on November 27.
"Since last year, gas from Russia has been pumped through the territory of Kazakhstan to neighboring Uzbekistan. And we will increase such supplies," Putin said.
The head of state said that the creation of three new thermal power plants is on the agenda of Russian-Kazakh relations.
The President drew attention to the fact that the Russian Federation helps Kazakhstan to build Russian-language schools, and in the near future it is planned to open three more.
Putin noted that Moscow and Astana have managed to preserve and increase their cooperation in the field of space research. The first launch from the new Baiterek space rocket complex in Baikonur is expected to take place in 2025 as planned.
Earlier in the day, Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a two-day visit, Tokayev met him at the airport. At the meeting, the presidents discussed the development of bilateral relations, and the Kazakh leader noted that Astana has been and remains a reliable strategic partner and ally of Moscow.
During the talks, the Russian president drew attention to the fact that Moscow and Kazakhstan maintain both friendly and business relations, which are developing dynamically. In addition, the Russian Federation has invested $13 billion in Kazakhstan's economy. Following the meeting of the delegations, Putin and Tokayev signed a joint statement on deepening strategic partnership in the new global order.
In addition, the two presidents participated in the creation of a painting by Kazakhstani artist Asel Sabyrzhankyzy. The canvas depicts a bridge of friendship between Russia and Kazakhstan.
