The doctor talked about the peculiarities of clique thinking

Clip thinking (or clip consciousness) is the ability to process information through short formats and vivid images, which often leads to the perception of data in a fragmented manner. Irina Krakshina, candidate of medical sciences, doctor-psychotherapist of JSC "Medicine" (clinic of academician Roitberg) told "Izvestia" on November 28 about the signs of such thinking, its positive and negative sides.
"People with clique thinking can quickly switch from one information to another, but their understanding often remains superficial. Neurobiology does not provide clear evidence that clique thinking is a distinct type of thinking," Krakshina explained.
According to her claims, key characteristics of clique thinking include difficulty concentrating on large texts, preference for visual information in a short format, and superficial perception of data without careful analysis. In addition, a significant aspect is the rapid change of attention, which makes it difficult to focus for long periods of time.
Such thinking has both its pros and cons. The positive aspects include quick reaction to changes and the ability to adapt to new information, as well as the development of multitasking skills, which is important in modern conditions. Among the negative aspects are the deterioration of the ability to concentrate and analytical thinking, loss of critical perception, which can lead to manipulation by others, as well as increased absent-mindedness and memory impairment.
"Clique thinking leads to superficial perception of information, making it difficult to understand emotions and context in depth. <...> Lack of time for reflection can lead to decreased empathy, as emotional reactions require a greater level of engagement and reflection," the doctor noted.
Krakshina added that the rapid update of information leads to a lack of organization of knowledge, as a person does not develop a deep understanding. The brain's ability to systematize and logically connect data is weakened, which reduces analytical skills and makes it difficult to learn new concepts.
The expert also explained in detail how one can get rid of clique thinking. According to her, it is important to gradually increase the complexity of the information consumed, including reading longer texts and analyzing difficult materials. In addition, it is worth reducing the time spent on the internet and reducing fragmented information such as social media and short videos. Another way is through mindfulness and concentration exercises, such as meditation and mindful reading.
"That said, it's worth remembering that getting rid of clipped thinking completely can be difficult in today's information and media environment. However, developing the skills of deep perception of information and analysis can improve the quality of our interaction with information and increase the level of understanding," Krakshina summarized.
Earlier, on November 25, psychologist Marina Dokuchaeva shared with Izvestia recommendations that can help cope with anxiety. The specialist gave basic advice on preserving mental health. According to the expert, first of all, you should check your regime.
