The Professionals professional skills championship final has expanded the list of competencies taking into account the needs of the real sector of the economy: in 2024 its program will cover 75 professional competencies. The final of the championship will be held in St. Petersburg on November 26-30.

The key prerequisite for the formation of personnel hunger is also the active development of industry and the course for independence from imports. "We are returning to production, creating medicines, cars, airplanes, turbines," comments Irina Potekhina, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg. - The industry is growing, and we are starting to lack specialists...".

The opening of professional competence centers helps to improve the quality of students' training. Thus, in 2024, the Center of Engineering Competencies - an educational polygon for the development of professional education in the field of production automation and engineering design, for the training of qualified specialists with modern engineering training - started its work in St. Petersburg. The institution is designed to synchronize the training of workers in colleges with the needs of the city's enterprises.

An important task is to increase the prestige of working specialties among young people. One of the tools for its solution was the establishment of the All-Russian Championship Movement in Professional Skills and the Professionals Championship.

In 2024, the program of the Championship finals will be traditionally divided into two categories: main and junior, where school students will demonstrate their professional skills. At the same time, the number of competencies has almost doubled compared to last year.

The largest group of competences will consist of professions related to the industrial sector. Among them are turning, milling, welding, production of metal structures, industrial automation and others. It is this sphere that has been facing the most acute shortage of personnel in recent years. According to a survey by the Gaidar Institute, in 2024, 47% of industrial enterprises in Russia will be short of workers. The trend is confirmed by the research of recruitment platforms. For example, according to HeadHunter, the most scarce specialists include turners, milling operators and grinders. The median salary in these areas since the beginning of the year increased by 32% and exceeded 140 thousand rubles.

The social sphere and service will also be more widely represented at the Professionals Championship finals. These are competencies related to medicine, social care, education and restaurant service. Together they form the basis for improving the quality of life of Russians.

The finals of the Professionals Championship will be held on November 26-30 at the Expoforum ECC in St. Petersburg. The Professionals Championship plays an important role in training qualified specialists for various sectors of the economy, promotes popularization of working professions and raises the prestige of vocational education, which should contribute to the fight against staff shortages in Russia.

The finals of the Professionals professional skills championship are held in St. Petersburg as part of the All-Russian professional skills championship movement for the second year. In 2024, more than 500 thousand people participated in the championship movement, of which more than 130 thousand were contestants from all regions of the country. The events are supported by the Government of the Russian Federation. Within the framework of the final of the Professionals Championship from November 26 to 30, competitions will be held in a number of modern and in-demand areas, including genome engineering, quantum technologies, information security and many others.
