Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev during his working trip to Ufa on November 27 got acquainted with the construction of the Interuniversity Student Campus of the Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center. As noted in the press release, the campus is being built under the federal program to create an innovative educational environment using mechanisms of public-private partnership and concession agreements within the framework of the national project "Science and Universities".
"This site will become a center for the development of science, interdisciplinary education and creative industries. The place will be not only a point of attraction for students and scientists, but also a modern public space for city residents," it says.
The campus project is a student space with living quarters for 4,000 people. Inside it will be placed an educational and scientific complex, a laboratory, business zones, stores, public gardens for walking and other objects of the urban environment. They will be available for all residents and guests of Ufa.
The project of the student campus became one of the eight winners of the selection for construction. According to the plan, it will be carried out from 2023 to 2026. In the first turn, in February 2024, the IQ-park with an area of 35,867 square meters was opened. It houses the laboratories of three supporting universities of Bashkortostan: Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUNiT), Bashkir State Medical University (BSMU) and Ufa State Petroleum Technical University (USPTU), also industrial partners of the campus.
A new complex of facilities with an area of 110,441 square meters is planned to open in the second phase. It will include a genomic center and seven towers that will house dormitories for students. Patrushev estimated the pace of construction of the genomic center to conduct fundamental and applied research on an area of 5.5 thousand square meters. m. It is planned to complete the work in December this year. The genomic center will house spaces for training specialists in the field of digital technologies, as well as a center for digital technologies in genetics under the management of UUNiT.
The program to create a network of world-class university campuses has been launched nationwide since 2021 on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, on September 7, Putin took part in the opening of the new campus of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University in Moscow. The mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin also took part in the ceremony via video-conference. According to the mayor, the new campus was built within three years on the instructions of the head of state. In 2023, six out of 14 buildings were ready, and this year the second phase - the cluster of technology and nature protection - has already been launched.
