The lowest weighted average cost of new cars is observed in the Volga Federal District. The price is at the level of 2.5 million rubles, according to the research results of VTB, Otkritie and Avtomarketolog company, which were presented to Izvestia on November 28. The North Caucasus and the Urals are also in the lead.

At the end of 10 months, the weighted average cost of a new passenger car in Russia increased by 12% to the same period of 2023 - almost to 3 million rubles, experts noted. According to them, first of all, prices for domestic brands increased: on average from 970 thousand to 1.34 million rubles (+12% year-on-year). Foreign cars went up in price by 6% from January to October - from Br3.5 million to Br3.7 million.

The lowest cost of new cars is recorded in the Volga Federal District (VFD) - Br2.5 million. At the same time, one of the highest rates of price growth is observed here: over the year the cost of new cars in the Volga Federal District increased by 19%. The second place is occupied by the North Caucasus, where the weighted average price on the primary car market amounted to about 2.7 million rubles. This federal district is the leader in terms of its growth rate (+21% year-on-year). The top 3 regions with the lowest cost of new cars are the Urals - just above 2.7 million rubles (+14% year-on-year).

"The weighted average price in the primary market directly depends on the volume of sold cars. For 10 months, the highest growth in new car sales was recorded in the North Caucasus - more than twofold," said Tatiana Akimova, Executive Director of the company "Automarketolog".

According to experts, the list of districts with the highest prices for new cars is headed by the Far Eastern Federal District - an average of 4.1 million rubles. At the same time, the Far East has the lowest dynamics of price growth: over the past year, the cost of cars in the primary market has increased only by 7%. The second line is occupied by the Central Federal District, where the weighted average price of new cars exceeded Br3.3 million at the end of the reporting period (+11% year-on-year). The third position is occupied by the North-Western Federal District - about 3.2 million rubles (+11% year-on-year).

"Against the background of the Central Bank's tight policy, the growth rate of the car market is slowing down. Nevertheless, we should not expect a decrease in the cost of new cars. First of all, the dynamics of prices will be influenced by new tariffs of utilization fee and currency fluctuations", - said Vice President, head of partner sales of car loans VTB Konstantin Karakalov.

Earlier, on November 2, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation published a report, from which it follows that sales of new passenger cars in Russia in October 2024 increased by 51% in annual terms and amounted to 168.5 thousand units. In relation to September of the current year, sales increased by 15%.
