Ex-Factory Hyundai in St. Petersburg to launch a new line of cars

St. Petersburg "Automobile Plant AGR" plans to launch a new line of cars together with an eastern partner. This was announced by Alexey Yakovlev, deputy chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovations and Trade, at the international forum "Russian Industrialist".

"As far as we know, they are progressing quite successfully in negotiations with eastern partners. In addition to assembling all their existing machine kits, we hope that they will soon start producing a new line together with their partner," TASS quoted Yakovlev as saying on November 27.

The former plant of the South Korean concern Hyundai in St. Petersburg, acquired by the Russian company Art Finance, was renamed AGR Automobile Plant in early 2024. The plant launched production of Solaris brand cars, which are re-branded Hyundai and Kia and are produced in full-cycle mode. The lineup includes the HC crossover (Hyundai Creta), KRS sedan (Kia Rio), KRX cross hatchback (Kia Rio X) and HS sedan (Hyundai Solaris).

On October 31, the group of companies "AGR" stated that in Russia continues warranty and service maintenance of Volkswagen cars. In "AGR" recalled that in May last year acquired the assets of LLC "Volkswagen Group Rus" and its subsidiaries. Since the acquisition and conclusion of agreements "AGR" is authorized to organize after-sales service of Volkswagen cars in the territory of the Russian Federation.
