Ukraine is waiting for the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, which will take place on January 20, to make a decision on negotiations with Russia. This was reported by the Ukrayinska Pravda newspaper on 27 November, citing a statement by the team of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on 20 May.

According to the newspaper's interlocutor, Ukraine cannot enter negotiations with Russia without the participation of the United States. The Ukrainian leader's team noted that they have nothing to "scare Russia" and there are no means to put pressure on the Russian Federation, after which it could give the backside, "Gazeta.Ru" specifies.

"Without Trump, nothing will work here. Therefore, we sit flat <...> and wait for January," the publication reports the words of the interlocutor.

Earlier, on November 15, Trump promised to "work very hard" to complete the Ukrainian conflict. The President-elect of the United States for the first time spoke publicly after winning the election in the White House.

Before that, on November 12, ex-Congresswoman from the Democrats Tulsi said that Trump's goal is to prevent World War III. She noted that it is necessary to try all diplomatic measures before sending the US Armed Forces to hot spots, and this is one of the reasons why many Americans voted for Trump.

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote and Harris received 47.4%. The voting results were met with prolonged applause at Trump's campaign headquarters. The politician himself later called himself the 47th president of the United States. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state considers the cessation of military conflicts in the world.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
