A section of the R-280 Novorossiya highway was opened in the DNR after repairs a year ahead of schedule

In the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), a 27-kilometer-long section of the federal highway R-280 "Novorossiya", which runs from Novoazovsk to Mariupol, has been opened after major repairs. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin on Wednesday, November 27.

The highway R-280 "Novorossiya" is part of the land corridor to Crimea and is also part of the Azov Ring.

According to Khusnullin, a set of works has been carried out, among which is the expansion of the road to four lanes in three sections. In addition, in order to improve traffic safety, traffic flows were separated, an elevated crosswalk was built, lighting and traffic lights were installed.

"Modernization of the R-280 highway will increase its capacity up to 25 thousand trucks and passenger vehicles per day," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Khusnullin emphasized that on the territory of the DNR the work was completed earlier than a year. He also noted that the modernization will affect the reduction of transport load, as well as the development of logistics links and the economy.

Earlier, on November 20, Khusnullin said that the highway M-12 "Vostok" in 2025 will be extended to Yekaterinburg. At the same time, he noted that a year later it is planned to extend the highway to Tyumen.

At the same time, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that within the framework of the national project "Efficient Transportation System" the Russian government will allocate 1 trillion rubles for the development of transportation over the next six years.
