U.S. Army colonel calls Western missiles toys in front of Russia's Oreshnik

American ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles are like "children's toys" compared to the capabilities of Russian Oreshnik missile systems. Retired US Armed Forces Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson told Izvestia on Wednesday, November 27.
"In light of what the Russians have (Oreshnik missiles. - Ed.), ATACMS and Storm Shadow seem like children's toys against its background," the expert said.
At the same time, the expert expressed the opinion that if necessary, the Russian army could completely destroy NATO infrastructure in Europe - for example, in Poland.
Wilkerson also called the statements by French President Emmanuel Macron and other politicians from NATO countries about sending troops to Ukraine ridiculous, and the authors of such ideas crazy. According to him, supporters of the Kiev regime are endangering the whole world because of their defeat.
"We have nothing in our arsenal that could change the situation in Ukraine except nuclear weapons. We have nothing for Ukraine that could give [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky (his term expired on May 20. - Ed.) even a glimmer of hope. He is in a terrible lose-lose situation," the colonel noted.
The expert suggested that European elites are now trying to help incumbent U.S. President Joe Biden prolong the Ukrainian conflict, considering it a way to keep the U.S. side as part of NATO.
At the same time, Wilkerson called Russian President Vladimir Putin one of the most prudent and prudent leaders in the world. He pointed out that Russia's adversaries always get exactly the reaction to their actions that the Russian president warns them about.
Earlier in the day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov called on the administration of incumbent United States President Joe Biden to stop the escalation around Ukraine. He pointed out that it would be difficult to end the confrontation otherwise.
The Pentagon confirmed the day before that Kiev had received the White House's authorization for strikes by US ATACMS ballistic missiles on Russian territory. The Russian Defense Ministry said at the time that Ukrainian militants had launched two ATACMS strikes on the Kursk region in three days. The situation is under control and they are preparing a response, the ministry added.
In turn, the Bloomberg news agency reported that Britain had delivered several dozen more Storm Shadow cruise missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Putin said on November 21 that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to acquire elements of a global one.
He said that Russia responded by live-firing a test of one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
