Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable ally and strategic partner of the Russian Federation. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Wednesday, November 27.

"Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable strategic partner and ally of Russia in difficult times," he emphasized at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Astana.

Tokayev also expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart for his visit to Astana and called his arrival an important event.

In Astana, Putin will attend a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). It is expected to sign about 20 documents and a joint statement on deepening the strategic partnership of the two countries.

The Russian President's state visit to Kazakhstan takes place from November 27 to 28. The head of state will discuss further development of Russian-Kazakh relations with his Kazakh counterpart Kasym-Jomart Tokayev.

In early July, Putin and Tokayev met in Astana as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. At that time, the Russian president noted that he was in constant contact with his Kazakh counterpart, and Russia is one of the republic's main trade and economic partners. During those talks, Tokayev invited Putin to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan in November. The two leaders also held telephone talks in late August.
