The first day of December occupies a special place in the calendar among other days of the year, because with the beginning of winter comes not only snowstorms and blizzards, but also the expectation of magic in anticipation of New Year holidays. Not without reason in the folk calendar this day is known as Plato and Roman the Winter Pointers, which coincides with the Orthodox holiday in honor of Saints Plato of Ancyra and Roman of Caesarea. On this occasion, our ancestors said, "As Plato and Roman, so is winter."

And today the first day of winter is a favorite holiday for many Russians. Every year on this day in schools, libraries and parks there are songs and poems about winter.
