Tourist tax will be levied in Tula from 2025

The tourist tax will be levied in Tula from January 1, 2025. The corresponding decision was supported by the deputies of the City Duma at the regular meeting on Wednesday, November 27.
The tax will be levied on the final cost of the service for the accommodation of guests, excluding VAT. In 2025, the rate will be 1% and then will be increased annually until 2029 will not reach the maximum value of 5%.
According to TSN24, the tourist tax will have to be paid by individuals and legal entities - owners of hotels, hotels and other accommodation facilities. The exact amount will be included in the guest's bill in a separate line and will be at least 100 rubles for each day of stay of the tourist.
"Tula is the third museum center of the country after Moscow and St. Petersburg. The logic of introducing a tourist tax is based on the need for continuous improvement of the city infrastructure, which primarily benefits the tourists themselves," commented Elena Birzhivaya, deputy head of the city administration.
The publication also notes that in the first nine months of 2024 the Tula region was visited by more than 1.4 million people. The region was among the leaders in the number of tourists this year in the Central Federal District.
Earlier in the day it was reported that a similar decision was supported by the deputies of the City Duma of Yakutsk. The tax will be levied on visiting citizens, except for residents of Yakutia. The amount of tax will be 1% of the services provided by the hotel, but not less than 100 rubles per day.
