A local resident was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of illegal migration. This was reported on November 27 by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

A criminal case against the man and others was initiated on November 15 under paragraph "a" part 2 of Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of illegal migration committed by a group of persons").

It was established that in cooperation the defendant developed a plan, according to which foreign citizens were fictitiously registered at the place of stay, they were also issued a patent. In addition, the criminal scheme was carried out for monetary reward.

"To fill in the forms of notification of arrival of migrants, the defendants used a legal entity, which actually did not carry out its economic activities and in the criminal scheme acted as a host party", - stated in the Telegram-channel.

In total, the documents were issued to more than 21 thousand migrants who did not intend to live at the place of registration.

Earlier, on November 18, in Samara, the court arrested a suspect in the illegal registration of more than 1.6 thousand foreigners in his housing. According to the agency, the resident of Samara organized fictitious registration of foreigners in two of his own residences in order to earn money.
