More than 400,000 children's books about the sea received by schools and libraries in Russia

More than 400 thousand books on marine themes were given to schools, libraries, hospitals, kindergartens, social and rehabilitation centers in Primorsky Krai, Moscow and Kazan. The publications were handed over to the institutions by FESCO Transportation Group, the company's press service reported.

In Vladivostok, for several pre-school organizations these books became the basis for library collections. The group reissued such works as "Alyoshka from Our House" by Sergey Baruzdin, "The Happiest Day, or Seven Feet Under the Keel" by Svetlana Ignatova, and "The Girl at the Lighthouse" by Gavriil Mirimanov. The latter is being reissued for the first time since 1927.

In Moscow, the editions have joined the collection of the Russian State Children's Library, and in Kazan - the Republican Youth Library.

"The books of the project form a chain of acquaintance of children of different ages with the navy, transport professions, opportunities to realize their talents in this sphere. At the moment, together with specialized government agencies of Primorsky Krai, we are developing methodological materials that help teachers to conduct career guidance classes for children in a playful form using the project books", - said Pavel Shalit, Vice-President for Port Division and Organizational Development of FESCO.

As explained by Maxim Kilchevsky, Head of the Department for Work with Municipal Institutions of Vladivostok Administration, thanks to the project, the city's libraries are regularly replenished with new interesting books. "This assists in early career guidance of children, developing their interest in maritime specialties, history and dynasties of the city," he explained.

The project to support children's and family reading "FESCO to Children" has been in operation since 2021. The group reprints popular Soviet books for children and teenagers, publishes new works, and engages in educational activities.
