European Parliament approves new EC with Callas at the head of Eurodiplomacy


On November 27, the European Parliament (EP) approved the new composition of the European Commission (EC) headed by Ursula von der Leyen.
Kaja Kallas was appointed head of European diplomacy.
The new EC was supported by 370 out of 688 deputies, 282 people voted against, 36 abstained from voting. The new EC will start working on December 1.
Earlier, on November 20, Politico, citing officials, reported on the EP approval of the entire composition of the new European Commission.
Prior to that, September 19, Politico said that Ursula von der Leyen had significantly strengthened her position in the newly formed EC and gained full control over EU affairs. According to the authors of the article, von der Leyen has been working for several months to eliminate opposition within the commission. Her rivals include Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services.
