- Ukrainian Foreign Ministry files request to use the building of the Russian Consulate General in Poznan

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has sent a note to Poland on the use of the premises of the Russian consulate-general in Poznan. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga in an interview with the Ukrinform agency on November 27.
"Ukraine is interested in receiving from Poland the building of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Poznan, which is being vacated in connection with the recognition by Warsaw of Russian diplomats in this city as undesirable persons and the closure of this consular institution," he was quoted as saying in his Telegram channel.
Sibiga pointed out that an official note to Warsaw with the relevant request was sent.
A large number of Ukrainians are in the Wielkopolskie department, where Poznan is located, so Kiev sees the building of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation as one of the possible locations to expand its presence, adds "Gazeta.ru".
Earlier, on November 18, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the republic would consider Kiev's request to give up the Russian consulate building with "great sympathy."
The decision of the Polish Foreign Ministry to close the Russian Consulate General in Poznan became known on October 22. The head of the diplomatic department Radoslaw Sikorski unsubstantiatedly accused the Russian security services of attempts to organize sabotage in the country and linked his decision to the allegedly ongoing Russian "hybrid warfare" against Poland and its allies.
At the same time, Sikorski allowed the expulsion of the Russian ambassador. He pointed out that the country had already imposed restrictions on the movement of Russian diplomats to "impede actions incompatible with diplomatic status." Reacting to this, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry "knows nothing else."
