Heavy snowfalls are not an uncommon phenomenon for the Far East, as in late fall and early winter there are southern cyclones that bring first high temperatures and then heavy precipitation in the form of snow and blizzards. The end of the snowstorm in Blagoveshchensk is expected on the weekend of November 30 and December 1. This was reported to Izvestia on Wednesday, November 27, by Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist of the Meteonovosti information agency.

"For the Far East it is such a not very rare phenomenon, because there in early winter and late fall quite often pass southern cyclones, which first bring high temperatures, warming, and then snowfalls, and blizzards, and so on. In Blagoveshchensk, a significant amount of precipitation - 13-15 mm - fell in the form of snow over the past day. Today the snow continues there, because the region will still be under the influence of this cyclone," she said.

According to the forecaster, the next days the Amur Region and the Jewish Autonomous Region (EAR) will be in the rear of the southern cyclone. Precipitation will remain, but the temperature will drop. The upcoming two nights will be quite frosty there, but there will be snow.

Pozdnyakova noted that if the snow will continue to fall still on Wednesday, the snowfall will already stop on the weekend.

"As the Siberian anticyclone develops, the center of which is now located somewhere between Mongolia and China, the probability of southern cyclones entering the territory of the Amur region and the Jewish Autonomous Region will be reduced, that is, cyclones, as a rule, will be their warm sectors will hit the south of Primorye to a greater extent. Therefore, heavy precipitation in the form of snow is most likely there. In continental areas, on the coast, wet snow and rain are expected in the coming days," - added the expert.

Earlier in the day, the administration of Blagoveshchensk reported that a state of emergency was introduced in the city due to a snowstorm. School students were transferred to distance learning until Friday, November 29, inclusive. It was also specified that employers independently decide on the transfer to the distance format or reduction of working hours.

Also, the Governor of the Amur region Vasily Orlov reported that in Blagoveshchensk for the day fell almost three decade norms of precipitation. According to forecasters, snowfall will continue for at least another day. Residents were also advised not to use personal cars without special necessity.
