A tourist tax will come into effect in St. Petersburg from next year. The corresponding bill in the third reading passed the legislative Assembly.

For the adoption of the law gave their votes 40 deputies, three voted against, notes the TV channel "78".

According to the head of the Budget and Finance Committee Denis Chetyrbok, the tour tax will become effective on January 1. It will completely replace the resort fee, which brought the city 640 million rubles as of November 14.

The deputy noted that the rate will increase gradually, from 1 to 3% of the cost of accommodation. Additional privileged categories of citizens will be exempted from paying the tourist tax.

It is expected that next year the tourist tax will replenish the budget in the amount of about 1 billion rubles.

At the end of October, several Russian cities announced the introduction of tourist tax from January 1, 2025 - the date when the regions were given this opportunity at the federal level. Thus, the new tax will appear in Kazan, Perm, Novosibirsk, Vladimir, and Murom. It will be paid when staying in hotels, hostels, sanatoriums. It will replace the resort fee and will come into effect immediately after the adoption of the relevant law by local authorities.
