US says man who threatened to kill Trump and his family has been arrested


US federal authorities have arrested a man who threatened to kill President-elect Donald Trump and members of his family. About it on Wednesday, November 27, reports the TV channel ABC News, citing sources.
According to the channel, living in Arizona Manuel Tamayo-Torres published in the social network Facebook (owned by the company Meta, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia) a number of videos with threats to "person number 1". Sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that the threats were directed against Trump. Some of the videos showed the detainee displaying an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
"You will die, your son will die. Your whole family is going to die," the TV station quoted the perpetrator as saying in one of his video posts.
According to charging documents, one of the videos the man made on Aug. 23 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, where Trump's campaign rally was being held that day.
Tamayo-Torres was apprehended by law enforcement officials on Monday, Nov. 25, outside of San Diego, California. He was charged with threatening the president or the president's successor. In addition, the man was charged with illegally purchasing a weapon with an outstanding criminal record.
"A year ago, he allegedly lied when trying to buy a gun at a gun store in Phoenix. He swore he had no prior felony convictions, but had been convicted of assault in San Diego in 2003, so he was legally prohibited from possessing firearms," the story said.
Thefirst attempt on Trump occurred on July 13 at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The politician received a gunshot wound in the ear tangentially. One of the spectators was killed, two were injured. The assailant was eliminated by return fire from an FBI sniper.
The second attempt was made on September 15: there was a shooting at a golf club in West Palm Beach. Trump was 500 meters from the scene, he was not injured.
