Russia has been conducting a special military operation to protect civilians in Donbas since February 24, 2022. The Russian Defense Ministry said that as a result of successful actions, units of the Center group of troops liberated the village of Novaya Ilyinka in the DNR and repelled 10 counterattacks by Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) assault groups, destroying up to 415 servicemen, seven vehicles, a 152-millimeter D-20 gun and a 122-millimeter D-30 howitzer.

The units of the "East" group of troops continued their advance deep into the enemy's defense, destroying up to 145 servicemen, two tanks, a US-made MaxxPro armored fighting vehicle and three vehicles, while in the area of responsibility of the "South" group of troops the enemy lost more than 400 servicemen, two vehicles and two US-made M119 105mm guns. A rocket-artillery weapons depot was also destroyed.

Units of the "West" group of forces repelled four counterattacks by AFU assault groups and destroyed up to 450 servicemen, three US-made M113 armored personnel carriers, a Kozak armored combat vehicle, and four vehicles.

In addition, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation hit the infrastructure of military airfields, as well as concentrations of enemy manpower and military equipment in 144 areas. Air defense means shot down 54 aircraft-type drones. Also during the day, the enemy conducted six attacks with copter-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and two strikes with barrel artillery on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (NPP) and the settlement of Energodar. All drones, as noted by the Russian Defense Ministry, were shot down by air defense or suppressed by electronic warfare (EW).

A total of 649 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 36,773 UAVs, 586 anti-aircraft missile systems, 19,515 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,492 multiple rocket launchers, 18,631 field artillery and mortars, and 28,762 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation.
