Izberbash Mayor Isakov's arrest in bribery case extended

Moscow 's Sovetsky Court has extended the arrest of Magomed Isakov, the mayor of the Dagestani town of Izberbash, in a criminal case over a bribe of 3.9 million rubles. The session was held on Wednesday, November 27.

The measure of restraint in the form of detention was extended until December 29. This information was confirmed by a source of "Izvestia" on November 27.

Earlier, on October 2, Isakov was elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention for two months, that is, until November 30, 2024 inclusive.

Thedetention of Isakov became known on October 1. A criminal case under part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receipt of a bribe on a large scale") was initiated against the head of Izberbash.

According to the agency, the suspect received a bribe of 3.9 million rubles from the developer, who failed to fulfill his official obligations. His actions, as noted by the Investigative Committee, were related to the revocation of a building permit for a house in the town of Izberbash.
